A Short Plea On Behalf of Benoit…

Benoit for the Hall of Fame?
Written By Hollywood Hinchcliffe

If this blog was a sign at a WWE live event it would have been confiscated and destroyed. The WWE now deny the existence of Chris Benoit, which is a huge shame because he was one of the best and most loved wrestlers of all time.

Benoit was one of the biggest superstars of his time, his appearance legendary, his move set impressive, and I strongly believe there never will be a submission manoeuvre as dominant as the crossface. There is a long list of accolades attributed to Benoit; two time WWE champion, World Heavyweight Champion, and a record five time United States Championship winner.

I recently watched No Mercy 2006, in which Benoit made a surprise return to the ring to defeat William Regal, and later go on to win the U.S. title. The Rabid Wolverine literally gave everything in his matches, so much so that it affected his mental stability. This alone shows that anyone who dismisses wrestling as “fake” is downright wrong.

It’s a real tragedy what happened to Benoit & his family, but WWE superstars are not in the Hall of Fame for their personal lives, they are in because they are the greatest entertainers in the world. And isn’t this just the perfect way to describe one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and a legend of the sport – Chris Benoit.

  1. Couldn't agree more with this. Although I can understand WWE might feel it's bad for business to associate themselves with Benoit, the wrestling community still respects the man for what he did so I think it'd only have minimal impact on the company if they were to acknowledge him. And there's no better way to do that than by inducting him into the Hall of Fame.
